The BARTA Story
For many years our original youth company ‘Berkshire ARTs Academy’ ran as a single centre in Bracknell providing training for up to 100 students per term in Acting, Singing and Dancing. Our popularity meant we were often full, having to turn children away or adding them to a waiting list until a space became available. So we decided the time was right to expand the Academy into new areas to create more places and greater opportunity for our students. We also felt this expansion would be the right time to rebrand from Berkshire ARTs Academy to BARTA Theatre Academy to remove any future geographical barriers to growth.
BARTA Theatre Academy is a drama school born out of a desire to give students the best possible introduction to the arts. The Academy’s mission is very clear: “To help as many students as possible increase their confidence and deliver their best performance”. Having worked with performing children it became evident to us both, that to really make a difference to young people’s lives, performing arts training had to be delivered in a fun and structured way. We sought out the best possible group of professionals available for our students, which took us into new areas of performing, effectively growing our own knowledge as we grew BARTA.
BARTA Theatre Academy is designed to develop the following in your child: Independence, concentration, co-ordination, self-esteem, social skills, self-discipline, teamwork and commitment. This is achieved by creating an environment which entices, enlivens and ignites your child’s interest in Performing Arts. Our teachers are calm, insightful and full of belief in your child. They have been recruited for both their passion and their skill, working tirelessly to ensure they deliver first class training and productions your child will feel proud to have performed in. Our aim is that every student that leaves BARTA Theatre Academy does so with high self-esteem, increased confidence and the skills to put them on track to live a consciously created life of opportunity
BARTA have, over the years, enjoyed a large amount of success professionally with students performing on TV, film, adverts, west end and touring productions. Locally we enjoy even greater success with many students involved in pantomimes, adult and local theatre productions across the region. We believe this external success can be attributed to the training we deliver combined with the many performance opportunities we provide our students with throughout the year. As I write this many of our children have just returned from performing in professional pantomimes and others are being called to audition for Matilda The Musical.

The opportunities keep coming and our students keep delivering. BARTA productions include Bugsy Malone, Wizard of Oz, Les Miserables, Spring Awakening, Lord of the Flies, Alice In Wonderland, Our House, Jukebox Musicals, Dr Dolittle and many more to come. Anyone who has seen a BARTA production will know that they are very special. We go all out to provide the children with the tools they need to create the best
show possible. A professional team of creatives and technicians, set designers and set builders, lighting designers, sound, musicians all combine to create something wonderful. It is a joy and a pleasure to think that our young students can then present shows with such professionalism and quality. |
