shows
Take a look back through BARTA's past productions. Since 2011, we have worked with over 1,000 students to produce professional-quality musical theatre in Berkshire and beyond!
Shrek Jr, Wilde Theatre (coming 2025)
Our whole school show for 2025 is Shrek Junior. We will be performing this Dreamworks musical in the Wilde Theatre at South Hill Park in Bracknell. More details coming soon.
Bonnie & Clyde, Old Firestation (coming 2025)
Our Elite Students will present Bonnie and Clyde with a live orchestra at the Old Fire Station in Windsor, February 2025. More details coming soon
School of Rock, Wilde Theatre (2024)
Featuring a cast of 72 young performers, BARTA Theatre Academy staged its most ambitious musical theatre performance yet. We performed to 1,500 people during the week.
Showing Off, Wilde Theatre (2023)
BARTA were honoured to be invited to perform alongside 30 other local groups to help South Hill Park celebrate its 50th year as an arts centre.
Jungle Book, Camp Bestival (2023)
We presented songs from a version of The Jungle Book written just for us. We performed as part of a line up that included The Kooks, Scouting for Girls and Gok-Wan! There were over 50,000 people at the festival.
High School Musical, Princes Hall (2023)
We took our performance of High School Musical to Princes Hall Theatre in Aldershot, and performed to an auditorium of 590!
Dr Dolittle, Camp Bestival (2022)
We told the story of Dr Dolittle to hundred of children at Camp Bestival. We sang eight original songs written by Dean Penn, Mark Hooper and Tim Cumper. We performed in the BIG TOP at Camp Bestival Shropshire - it was insanely cool!
Matilda Junior, Wilde Theatre (2022)
Our production of Matilda Jr became South Hill Park's best-selling production by a visiting company in its 50 year history! This was already a special production for us, as one of our first students - Kerry Ingram - won an Oliver Award for best actress in a musical for her performance of Matilda in the West-End!
Alice In Wonderland, Camp Bestival (2021)
Performing at Camp Bestival is the highlight of our Summer. 2021 was the first year back after a few years away due to the pandemic. We came back strong by performing some songs from our original production of Alice in Wonderland written by Mark Hooper, Dean Penn and TIm Cumper.
Alice In Wonderland, The Whitty Theatre (2019)
Our 2018 production of Alice in Wonderland was so successful, we decided to remount the production at The Whitty Theatre in Wokingham. We always enjoy taking our work to new places and spaces, meeting and working with new people.
Jukebox Megamix, The Whitty Theatre (2019)
At the same time as performing Alice in Wonderland, we also performed a review musical performance which we called Jukebox Musical. Students chose their favourite songs from pop and musical theatre, and we performed them to a sell-out audience of family and friends.
Our House, The Rhoda McGraw (2019)
This was our third Elite Musical, and we loved every second of it. We performed alongside a live band, in a professional theatre and invited some of the Saturday students to take part in the musical too.
Alice In Wonderland, The Wilde Theatre (2018)
We really enjoyed being the first musical theatre school in the country to perform this original production of Alice in Wonderland.
Spring Awakening, Studio Theatre (2018)
Spring Awakening was a challenging piece for us, not only is it a demanding piece physically and vocally, it is also emotionally demanding as it tackles some mature and adult themes.
Les Miserables, The Rhoda McGaw (2017)
This was our first BARTA Elite show and it is one we will never forget. A cast of 60, performing alongside a live band, with hand-made costumes, a custom-built set and a professional lighting and sound rig.
The Wizard of Oz, The Wilde Theatre (2016)
This is your Project description. Click on "Edit Text" or double click on the text box to start.
Lord of the Flies, The Studio Theatre (2015)
This was a new venture for BARTA. We decided to produce a play in the Studio Theatre at South Hill Park. We rehearsed the performance outside of our normal session times, and opened up the opportunity to BARTA and non-BARTA students.
Bugsy Malone, The Wilde Theatre (2014)
Bugsy Malone was a special show for us, it was the very first musical we produced as an academy. The performance was a great success and this led to us producing at least on musical every year, ever since.
Whales and Pirate Tales, On the Lake (2013)
Whales and Pirate tales was our first outdoor performance, which was part of South Hill Park Art Centre's 40th birthday celebrations. We were proud to contribute to the birthday celebrations of our very first host venue.
